Igbos have have developed an ugly penchant for destroying one another- Victor Oladokun

When the Igbo had the erudite, brilliant, and internationally revered Owelle of Onitsha, they could not rally around him. Even Ikemba upon his return from exile, was never the rallying point he could and should have been.

Tell me, who have the Igbo ever truly rallied behind? No one. Instead, in spite of exceptional individual brilliance, they have developed an ugly penchant for destroying one another.

Why?

1. Some would say it's an issue of cultural values.

2. Others would suggest it is in line with the existence of small undeveloped social clusters pre and post colonialism. Such clusters were at variance with more sophisticated social structures and cities such as Lagos, Oyo, Ibadan, Benin, or Kano.

3. Others still will suggest excessive parochialism. What non-Igbos don't fully realize is how utterly divided and prejudiced the Igbo are even among themselves. Talk to someone from Onitsha, Enugu, Awka, Aba, Owerri, Orlu, etc and you'll get the jist.

4. Even now, the Igbo cannot seriously rally or work effectively with other ethnic groups to effect Nnamdi Kanu's release. The young man is languishing away and deteriorating mentally, emotionally, and physically by the day. Even then, the Igbo leadership is divided on this iconoclastic young man.

5. Obasanjo, whether you like him or not, is a master of the game. He knows what he is talking about.

6. Ultimately, the Igbo must realize, that the enemy is not in the so called zoo of Nigeria, but embedded deeply within themselves.

7. I guarantee you Biafra is not the solution per se. If one goes by existing precedent, Biafra will destroy itself after effecting its separation. Prejudices, primordial divisions, hatreds, individualism, and the lack of true leadership will see to it.

Criticize these comments all you want. It is the truth and you know it.
